WHAT IS BOTOX?
Botox is a prescription muscle relaxing medicine patented by Allergan that is injected into your muscles to help reduce the appearance of lines caused by frowning, laughter or age to prevent Migraines and underarm sweating. In many cases, Botox can be used in conjunction with dermal fillers to help create a more youthful look.
HOW DOES BOTOX WORK?
Botox works by temporarily weakening injected muscles so that they don’t draw the skin together causing deep furrows (frown lines). This is achieved by blocking the nerve endings from releasing messages to the brain.
HOW LONG DOES BOTOX LAST?
Results will take a few days to show and then steadily improve over a period of 1 -2 weeks. Botox will typically last up to 3-4 months before it starts to wear off – although this depends on the individual patient.
WILL BOTOX BE PAINFUL?
Most people report minimal sting, however, we can apply a local anaesthetic cream 15 minutes prior to the procedure.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF BOTOX?
Botox is a mature product that has been safely applied literally millions of times. Aside from minor bruising and swelling and perhaps a brief headache, it is likely that there will be no side effects making it a low risk treatment.
